CASE STUDY AWAITS AT THE END
Deco is an art festival that celebrates modernity in the spirit of the Art Deco. Our mission is to adorn the world with the transformative power of art and design, blending contemporary thought with the intersection of tradition and innovation. The festival takes place at the Centre Pompidou, with Paris as a backdrop - a melting pot of art and culture at the foreground of the Art Deco movement.
Project Time: Fall 2023 - 4 Weeks
We were tasked with an identity design project for an ART FESTIVAL with the themes of ART DECO design style. That’s when we came up with DeCo.
DeCo is a three day festival celebrating contemporary and traditional forms of art for new as well as established designer. This festival would be held in Paris in the foreground of the Centre Pompiduo with the iconic facade as its backdrop.

We drew from not just the bold, geometric language of Art Deco posters and graphic design, but also the sweeping opulence of its architecture. Those gilded surfaces, intricate motifs and luxurious interiors that seemed to promise a future carved in marble and lit in gold.
The name DeCo came from Decoratif+Contemporary. What Art Deco Style would stand for in today’s time. We focussed on the geometry, structure and repetition that was prominent during the Art Deco design style and focussed on ways to make it contemporary.
The final logomark and symbol was a variation we made from the P22 Bifur font that in itself was inspired by the Art Deco style.
While working on the identity system, we explored multiple ways to show geometry, repetition, symmety and the Centre Pompidou.
The final design system was inspired by linear geometric grids, taking cues from both classic Art Deco motifs and the structural aesthetic of the Centre Pompidou. This modular visual language was applied across various media, including tickets, posters, websites, and outdoor advertisements, ensuring a dynamic yet cohesive identity. A key part of the process was creating a system that allowed flexibility while maintaining strong visual consistency. The structured grid provided a foundation, but breaking it in strategic places added energy and movement to the design. The festival's branding extended beyond print and digital, integrating signage and environmental graphics to create an immersive experience.
Opulent Orange was the catch-all color for the overall branding for the festival. Geometric Green, Dusty Rose and Bold Bleu were 3 colors associated with individual days of the 3 day festival. All four colors were selected to be just saturated enough to hold the system (much like the facade at Centre Pompidou) but never too much that it over-powered the artist’s works on a poster.
Both the heading and body font were selected keeping the Art Deco style in mind.

My Role: I contributed to the development of Deco’s visual language by extending the system, refining its applications and translating the identity across the website and digital touchpoints. I supported the team in shaping a cohesive direction while ensuring the system held strong across every platform.
